Griekse ambassade wil PVV'ers niet ontvangen

PVV-leider Geert Wilders en fractiegenoot Tony van Dijck werd vrijdagmiddag de toegang tot de Griekse ambassade geweigerd. De Kamerleden wilden de medewerkers een drachmebiljet van 1,5 meter overhandigen. De drachme was de Griekse munteenheid voor de euro werd ingevoerd.

'De Griekse regering krijgt verse miljarden om schuldeisers te betalen. Maar het nagenoeg failliete land doet nog steeds onvoldoende zijn best.'

Met de actie wilde de PVV haar afschuw uiten over de miljardensteun aan de 'corrupte Grieken'. Wat Wilders betreft gaan de Grieken weer terug naar de drachme.

De ambassade wilde de PVV'ers vanmiddag niet ontvangen omdat de overhandiging in strijd zou zijn met de vriendschappelijke relaties tussen Nederland en Griekenland en 'onze langdurige samenwerking' binnen de Europese Unie, zegt een woordvoerder.

Zwoegen
De actie is slechts voor de bühne en negeert bovendien, aldus de ambassade, 'het dagelijkse harde zwoegen' van de Grieken.

De ambassade van het Zuid-Europese land laat weten blij te zijn met de solidariteit die Nederland tot nog toe heeft getoond en belooft Nederland dat het hervormingsprogramma van de regering succes zal hebben.

Donderdag werd bekend dat de Griekse economie in het eerste kwartaal nog sterker is gekrompen dan eerder werd gemeld. De krimp kwam uit op 5,5 procent in vergelijking met een jaar eerder.

Kind of hard not to get close to the water when landing at an airport that is at the water’s edge and at such a low altitude. This looked like a good landing to me. I didn’t see any rooster tails from the landing gear. And if you noticed the jet still went a ways down the runway before coming in contact with the tarmac.
